I just finished this job on my 2001 savage.
The plug is number 12 on the diagram.
Make sure you keep track of where all the cylinder head bolts go, there's alot of them and they are all diferent lengths. Also there are gasket washers on 7 of them. Make sure when you buy the new rubber plug you buy new bolt gaskets. I also bought the suzuki head sealant from the dealer to reseal the valve cover. I did not put any sealer around the new rubber plug it fit nice and tight. The old plug was loose in the hole. Clean the valve cover of old sealer and dry very good before reassembling. The rocker arms for the vales are part of the vavle cover that you will remove so make sure you torque the bolts correctly when you reinstall the cover so you don't screw up your valve clearences. You might as well put a new spark plug in while your there.
It's not that bad of a job. Good Luck.
